A professionally produced audio (voice) CD for voice-over is an invaluable and effective marketing tool. It should be brief (2-3 minutes), present the performer's normal voice and speaking style and contain portions of only the best work.

Often the first challenge when artists wish to make a voice-over demo is simply; "What do I put on it?" Ask your agent or a friend if your voice is right for selling chocolates or banking services, selling holidays or reading novels? Studios also can often provide helpful tips and scripts and backing tracks but do your homework.

Try and not use accents - if a Producer wants French accents there is normally the real thing available.

Remember on most occasions, voice-over producers choose actors from a relatively small pool of experienced performers, usually those with whom they have previously worked. Check with your agent before spending your time and money on a voice CD.

Finally, rehearse as much as possible before you go into the studio. This should improve your demo and save money on expensive studio time. Studios usually charge by the hour.
